"Our human capital is our most valuable resource."

Human Resources Manager, Crédit Mutuel Maine-Anjou Basse-Normandie
At Crédit Mutuel, commitment and investment are what we emphasize for our employees.
Most people today are hired under fixed-term contracts. What can you offer young people who have had enough of temporary contracts?
At Crédit Mutuel Maine-Anjou Basse-Normandie, we hire people under permanent contracts. For the past seven years, we have hired 70 to 100 people per year on a regular basis. It’s a long-term investment.
Isn't that risky for the company?
Our human capital is our most valuable resource. We need to hire and there is a lot at stake. We help new recruits by providing a six- to nine-month onboarding process. We also welcome between 55 and 65 undergraduate and graduate work-study employees each year throughout the country. At the end of their training, many join Crédit Mutuel under permanent contracts.
Are certain fields of study considered the best route to a job at Crédit Mutuel?
We hire young people with a high school diploma plus three years of college or those with previous professional experience. In terms of work-study programs, we have partner schools that offer targeted training courses in banking and insurance leading to an undergraduate degree in banking and insurance, a Master's degree in banking and finance with a professional or agriculture curriculum, a Master’s degree in wealth management or a Masters degree in account management. And we advocate openness to also ensure a more diverse workforce. We also hire candidates from sectors other than banking who have diverse and varied business experience.
Do you think you attract talented individuals by offering permanent contracts?
At Crédit Mutuel, commitment and investment are what we emphasize for our employees. But we are not able to measure it. We always have unsolicited applications. We also have candidates who were contacted through social networks, job fairs and job dating or by consulting CV databases. What we often find during our recruitment events is that candidates like our values (closeness to the customer, regional presence, support for local projects, etc.) and the fact that we help them by providing training courses.
We advocate openness to also ensure a more diverse workforce.
